Final apple video.
Final roller derby video.
Final bowling video.
Final version of the bike video. Added the title/ending sequences and tightened up all the loose ends.
Settled on this for the time being, I plan on fleshing it out further during the break. The usability of the site is simple, it tells you the about, how to submit, and the gallery. I decided that the website should function as a forum for contribution. I was worried that the idea of allowing submissions would counteract the intent of the movement/campaign, which is to get people to go out and do things. I was afraid that allowing people to submit their own videos would put pressure on them to film the experience for the sake of the site, rather than actually being a part of it.
I talked to Dylan and we came to the conclusion that allowing submissions would serve as a motivator rather than an inhibitor, since we cannot assume people’s reactions to the videos. The site is to function merely as a jumping off point, a source of inspiration. Where viewers want to take it after that is entirely up to them, including their choice to submit and share their experience.
Some quick mockups for the website. It took me a while to figure out the system and purpose of the site — whether it was a forum for contribution or if it was simply meant to deliver the videos/commercials.
Logo development.
I also settled on the name for the project, which is pause. I wanted it to be simple but not as obvious as simply sticking a pause button in there. While going through earlier iterations, I also realized that my mark was a little too similar to the pause fest logo, a definite no no.
Making use of the elements within the pause button (circle + 2 lines), I finally settled on the logo featured above. From a distance, it looks like a pause button but as you get closer, you realize that the two lines also function as a ‘p’, type working as image and whatnot. I also started playing around with fill, negative space, and the interaction between the name and mark.
